Welcome to the Powerschool Parents Tutorial*

Powerschool Introduction
Powerschool is an easy to use student academic information system provided to parents and teachers with the intention of communicating student performance throughout the school year.
PowerSchool is:

- User friendly
- Web-based
- Accessible via the internet

Getting Started
Login to Powerschool: The Login page allows authorized users to access their student's academic information. For each child, enter the provided username and password. Please be aware that both the username and password must be entered exactly as provided to you.
NOTE: If parents have more than one child enrolled, separate usernames and passwords will be provided for each child.

Main Menu
To access the main functions within PowerSchool, click on one of the links noted on the menu bar below.
NOTE: Each icon provides a direct link to each of the main functions within Powerschool. Some links are relevant only to Sacramento High School .

Grades and Attendance
This is the default page that users see upon entering a valid username and password. This page provides users with the following:
- Student attendance records for current two weeks, including entries for any absences and/or tardies.
- Currently enrolled courses.
- Teacher's name.
- Term grades for each course
NOTE: To return to this page from another page, double-click on the red apple icon located in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Fields shown in blue provide a link to another page or function. There is a legend at the bottom of the screen to explain the meaning of each entry.

Attendance History
In PowerSchool, click on icon circled below on the menu bar to view overall attendance of the selected student for all classes.

Grades & Grades History
On the “Grades and Attendance” page, click on the blue number below the letter grade (see Image 1) to view the “Class Score Detail” page. This page provides detailed information about course grades received for a particular class as well as:
- Assignment type
- Due date of assignments
- Score received for each assignment
In PowerSchool, click on the icon circled below on the menu bar to view student grade history.
NOTE: Only grades for the current school year are displayed.

Clicking on icon highlighted in the below picture of the menu bar will allow viewing of the students grade history. It displays any grade from the current year.

Send Email to a Teacher
To send an email to a student's teacher, click on the teacher's name (blue link) located in the “Teacher” column of the “Grades and Attendance” page. When either Outlook or Pegasus is used for sending and receiving email, a new email message box will appear with the teacher's email address pre-filled.
If web-based email such as Yahoo or Hotmail is used to send and receive email, note the teacher's email address (move the mouse over the teacher's name to locate their email address) and send email through web email.

E-mail Notification
PowerSchool offers users the ability to receive email updates on student performance and attendance, as well as school information provided through the School Bulletin. Users can choose the following setup options for email notifications:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Bi-weekly
- Monthly
In PowerSchool, click on the icon circled on the menu bar below to select email preferences for automated notification of student information.

Users may specify email addresses to which the information is sent, (multiple email addresses may be entered as long as they are separated by a comma), the frequency of the information and the type of information they want to receive.

Teacher Comments
In PowerSchool, click on the icon circled on the menu bar below to view any comments entered by a student's teachers.
NOTE: This information can be found on report cards.

School Bulletin
In PowerSchool, click on the icon circled on the menu bar below to view the School Bulletin provided to users by the administrative staff. School bulletins may include:
- Extracurricular Activity Schedules
- Guidance Information
- Other notes of interest
