Why the Condition of Our Schools and Classrooms Matters for Student Learning
September 3, 2025
When we think about what helps students learn, we often focus on curriculum, teaching strategies, and test scores. But there’s another factor that can be just as critical: the condition of the physical spaces where students learn. The quality of school facilities can have a profound impact on learning outcomes, student engagement, and overall well-being.
From the moment a student walks into a school, the setting sends a message. A clean, safe, well-lit, and well-maintained classroom signals that education is valued and that students are worth investing in. A well-kept school communicates high expectations—not just for academics, but for behavior and community.
That’s why we’re so excited that our PS7 Elementary School scholars are now learning in a completely modernized school site. St. HOPE Public Schools invested $34 million to completely renovate our Tk-5th grade elementary school campus so it now has:
- 31 brand new classrooms with modern technology
- Renovated multi-purpose room and kitchen
- New administration building
- Reconfigured front entrance, accessways, and parking area to ensure safe drop off and pick ups
- New hardscape, landscaping, playground, fields, and basketball courts
We’d love to have you come check out our transformed elementary school campus!
